I don't have a CLUE....

We were at a beach picnic on Saturday and Fox asked me to teach him how to play Clue. It's a board game that is a bit complex for a little 6 year old mind, but he was so insistent I sat down and tried to teach him.
We made 3 piles with the 21cards. One for all the characters, one for all the weapons, one for all the rooms. Then I shuffled the cards and put them face down on top of the board game.
"Okay," I said, "Point to one card in this pile."
Fox pointed to a card and without lifting it up I slid it across the board and into the yellow envelope. We repeated the same process with the other two piles. Now inside the envelope was one character, a weapon and a room. I was a bit lazy and didn't want to explain the rest of the game. A boy named Max sat down to join us.
"Okay!" I said, "let's just try and guess what's in the envelope."
They both liked that idea so Max went first.
"I am going to say it is Colonel Mustard with the rope in the garage."
Then it was Fox's turn. He was squirmy as usual, but oddly focused.
"I am going to say Mister Green, with the pistol...no wait the wrench...in the kitchen...no wait the bedroom!"
Then I guessed, "Miss Scarlet with the lead pipe in the lounge"
I took the envelope and slid out the top card. It was Mister Green.
"Whoa Fox! Bravo you got one!" I cheered for my son.
Then I slid out card number 2. It was the wrench. I hesitated for a moment and then I looked at Max, "I am almost scared to look at card number 3."
I felt like the twilight zone song was going to start playing. I picked up the envelope, slid out the third card and flipped it over. Fox stood up and cheered and I sat and stared at it. Fox had nailed all three cards. It was the bedroom. I wasn't able to believe it for some reason.
"Fox did you cheat?" I asked.
"Mama, you put the cards in there!" he laughed. Then he leaned over and whispered, "I saw it with my mind mama."
I was stunned into silence. I felt bad for doubting Fox, but at the same time I couldn't wrap my head around it. Was it possible? Can my kid go inside a sealed envelope and see cards? Or did he just get insanely lucky?
Either way I looked at him and said, "Wow! YOU need to teach ME how to play this game!"
It's Monday morning now and I am still pondering this. I know Fox is gifted, he came into this world super conscious. What does this mean for me as a mom? Do I nurture this or just try to keep things normal around here? Maybe I am reading too much into it?
I imagine blog posts are about offering people advice, help or useful tips.
This one is asking for them. Help! Hahaha.
xox,
Niki
